September Updates

Wow, what a month we've had. I'm not even sure where to begin so I'll start with the fact that we are still open 9-5 by appointment only M-F. We are doing our very best to meet the needs of our population and maintain a safe and healthy environment so masks and social

distancing are still required.

We have made a big push with our harm reduction bags containing information and basic safety supplies, handing out 150-200 a month at local "hot spots". We have had positive feedback from folks letting us know that the supplies and info are making a real difference in people's worlds, so we've no reason to stop our weekly runs around the city. If you are interested in joining us or have a "hot spot" you think we should visit let us know.

Turning Point would like to formally introduce and welcome Andrew Peltier and Micheal Daly to our staff. Andrew began working as a volunteer nearly a year ago and has completed relevant trainings to become a recovery coach and a valuable member of the team. Mike comes to us from working fields, a job placement service for folks in recovery and has found his niche here at the TPC. We are super excited to have these two amazing gents to help us realize our mission of serving Rutland County to the very best of our abilities. Welcome aboard guys!

Our dear friend and co-worker Dave took it upon himself to spearhead the painting of the center and we have a fresh clean feel around the ol' shop these days. We've a few rooms to go but the place is looking great. Thanks for all the hard work Dave!

Saving the best for last, we received a substantial grant from a private source to be spent on food right here in Rutland County. We had the very distinct pleasure of making donations to some our partners here in the city including, BROC Community Action, the Community Cupboard, the United Way of Rutland County and the Open Door Mission. It was a truly amazing feeling to be able to give back to those that give so much. We also put a store of cash into gift certificates to the Farmer's Food Market here in the city for us to be able to provide direct access to local foods to those we serve. We even had enough left over to put into a "BBQ fund" and hosted our first pop-up BBQ on August 31st. The plan is to make those a semi-regular thing so look out for the next one.

I think that gets you all pretty much up to date. If you haven't done so already jump over and give us a like and a follow on Face Book to get a daily dose of TPCR. We'll catch you again soon.

Kyle
